I never heard of Esperanza Spalding.
Yes, I know that it is the NEW artist category, but she was the only one on the list that I hadn’t even heard of. The others, I had heard of and know some of their music. She was completely unknown to me.
Why did that random unknown girl get best new artist at Grammys?

Besides. just because you don’t know her doesn’t mean she isn’t good. If she won, she must be a good artist.
Because the voting method of the Grammys is not based on the most popular artist. The people that vote for the Grammys are a group of people in the music and recording industry and they vote on who they think sounds the best, not the most popular.
Because the ppl that judge for the grammy’s judge the qualty of her music/lyrics not whos most popular. i didnt knw about her till then and still dont rly but i guess if u like jazz then …..
Because people like her, she must not be unknown if she gotten a grammy

Not so random. Saw some vids on YouTube of her playing at the White House. She has obvious talent.
I have no idea, but she robbed Florence’s grammy. I mean she’s talented and all, but FLORENCE IS TALENTED.
