Why do a lot of people seem ready to crucify Michael Vick?

by admin on January 13, 2011

The man hasn’t even been through the justice system yet and people are already calling for his head. At least give the man a chance to defend himself, you know. We have seen this time and time again with athletes who are accused of crimes and then it comes out that they didn’t do it. The saddest thing about this is that if he didn’t do anything, this will haunt him forever, and some people will never let this go.

I think it’s because 1) he is a celebrity and we are so used to them walking away with the lightest punishment available
and 2) because dog fighting is such a cruel and inhuman act. Those poor helpless dogs are starved, beaten, fought (sometimes for hours on end) and left for dead.

I agree that he should be innocent until proven guilty and thank goodness he lives in the US where he can get just that! It’s sad to think that not only is he being tried by the justice system, but also by his team, peers, friends, family, reporters, and the entire world (per se).

IF he did it, I hope they punish him however, that is not for me (or anyone else) to decide…that is for the justice system to decide!

Bravo for posting this question!

I think people are angry about the dead animals.

There is evidence that a crime took place, and people are angry that someone rich and famous ALLEGEDLY did something so hideous.

I agree that people should let the justice system work this out, although the accusations are disgusting.

generally speaking, our justice system doesn’t charge people with crimes unless their pretty certain they can get a conviction. i’m not an apologist for "the system" necessarily, but that’s how it’s supposed to work.

and just because a lot of athletes have been found "innocent" doesn’t mean they didn’t do the crime in question – it often means that they paid a lot more for their lawyers than the other team and were able to get off that way. i mean, come on, you really think oj and kobe were totally innocent?

Why do a lot of people like to come on here and ask a new question about him every 5 minutes or less?

People expect those who have talent and make more money than can dream of in a lifetime, to have conduct themselves in a professional manner. In other words, dont be a vick if u want to act like a dick.

Was that your opinion when Saddam was on trial? "Give the man a chance to defend himself"? In America everyone has the right to a fair trial. Even Charles Manson, Jeffrey Dahmer, and maybe one day Osama Bin Laden. Sometimes the evidence is so overwhelming that we don’t need to see what a jury thinks. He’s guilty, plain and simple.

Any level of animal cruelty is not accepted

I support due process

I’m also a consumer , who buys the products PETA and Humane Society have protested to remove Vick ..
People shouldn’t rush to judge
people lie every day , the facts used to secure an indictment can be based on lies

It smells like someone is talking fast to save their own butt and offering Vick as the prize, by over stating his involvement if there is any involvement

only time will tell,… and everyone has a right to their opinion and to protest, but to be smart alec’s about it is a turn off…

It’s a Shock to the American public that this brutal sport still exists … and the details sickening

The Public loves to build up heros then tear him down.

Putting a face on the dog-fighting industry make it easier to unite people against dog cruelty. Like Osama being the face of terrorism
